I received my BA in English and Education from Vassar College in 1997. After graduating, I taught Special Education to students with emotional and behavioral issues for six years, during which I relied on regular massage to keep my body and mind sound and functioning.
In the fall of 2003 I was ready for a career change and went back to school to become a massage therapist. I graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, MA in February 2005.
Over the past six years I've developed a specialty in treatment and recovery work. Many of my clients are athletes, but I'm happy to work with anyone who would like to live more comfortably in their body. The massages I give tend to be fairly deep and slow, but I always modify my approach to fit my clients' needs. My aim is to use our sessions to address underlying fascial and structural issues that often initiate injuries and limitations, and re-establish my clients' bodies' innate balance. I've completed trainings in deep myofascial release, scar release, and Thai massage.
This work has made me increasingly amazed at the complexity and brilliance of human bodies. I feel thankful to get to spend my days learning about and from them.
